There's no such thing as bad Bergman. There's no such thing as bad Pasolini... if you ask the right person.

183 Vampyr 1932

That's on my unpublished list of "Movies I Own But Haven't Watched".

And did anyone else thing The Spirit of the Beehive was a bit of a letdown?

Hey man

I will, I will, but tonight is trash with my kids.

I'll watch them all, it's just a matter of when. I feel back in the groove and think I can do two a week. But that still says march completion.

Anymore than two a week and I find that I don't give them their due.

Major,

I feel that this list is a treasure chest of undiscovered jewels

Nothing bad and most awesome. How good is that?

And when this is done - 201 to 1000 still to go!

Speaking of letdowns, how about Vampyr? You owe the wife a pair of shoes for that blind-buy.

First Pete said it wasn't any good and then you came in and said the exact same thing. Pretty discouraging -- I have buyer's remorse even before watching it. I'll try to put it on at midnight, when I'm really really sleepy, in order to take advantage of its supposed "dream-like" feel.

As always, TSPDT is a good source for these endeavours. Sort the full list by length and get gems like:

270 1900 Bertolucci, Bernardo 1976 France, Germany, Italy 311mins

405 Vampires, Les Feuillade, Louis 1915 France 440mins

245 Sátántangó Tarr, Béla 1994 Hungary, Germany, Switzerland 450mins

131 Dekalog Kieslowski, Krszystof 1988 Poland 550mins

159 Shoah Lanzmann, Claude 1985 France 566mins

228 Berlin Alexanderplatz Fassbinder, Rainer Werner 1980 Germany 931mins

640 Heimat Reitz, Edgar 1984 Germany 940mins

I know a few of those aren't actually single features and appeared as miniseries in some countries.

And several of these loom like mountains in the distance before me!

I'll go. Here's my list of 2009 features that I wanted to see but still haven't gotten around to:

Two Lovers
Gigantic
Tetro
The Informers
The Soloist
Limits of Control
The Brothers Bloom
Big Fan
World's Greatest Dad
Bright Star
Looking for Eric
The Damned United
The House of the Devil
The Men Who Stare at Goats
The Road
The Private Lives of Pippa Lee
Me and Orson Welles
Brothers

Not all of those will be good. For instance, I'm fairly sure The Informers is terrible but I hope that popular opinion has been wrong.

I dare you to watch The House of the Devil as your next film. Or Tetro, because that film's a fucking mess.

Damn Pedro, really? I sorta liked it..it just had some great moments. As a whole it doesn't work but I really really liked some of what Coppola was trying to do here.

Ed,
Lots of good films there, some of which I like better than some others here(Me and Orson Welles, Brothers Bloom, Damned United, Two Lovers. Let me know what you think of those.

Haha just because it's a mess doesn't mean it's an awesome mess. I gave it a bob harris 7/10. Its earnestness deserves it.

The ones in red you can safely miss while the ones in blue are worth the trouble. So says me. I haven't seen, or don't give a hell one way or another, about the others. The Road, for example, just... was.

I second this. Also, I liked Big Fan, but it wasn't great. You have no business seeing it before other films. XD

The Brothers Bloom was average but helped by Rachel Weisz to become just as average but with a nice performance in the center. I know I didn't like Big Fan but had to look up my reasoning as to why. Right here: viewtopic.php?p=41328#p41328
