I know comedies are really subjective. I'm just curious what the forum's favorite comedies are.

Pretty basic. Just list your favorite comedies, no limit.

I've got a bunch...I'll sprinkle them throughout. No real order...

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Blazing Saddles
40-Year-Old Virgin
Knocked Up
Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I don't know if I would consider the following "comedies" per se...I just think there is more to them than the laughs...

Swingers (probably my all time favorite movie)
Jerry Maguire
The Princess Bride

I'm sure there's others that would be on my top list. Just can't think right now.

Nobody ever mentions...Coming to America. Great, great comedy. Probably my favorite Eddie Murphy anything.

Also...has anyone ever seen The Aristocrats?

I don't know if that qualifies as a comedy, probably more a documentary.

I know it got panned, and objectively it's probably a dumb movie, but I think Rat Race is hysterical.

I remembered Rat Race...it made me re-think my "A bad ending doesn't wreck a good movie" stance cause the ending was horrid...Smash Mouth! Come on!

I've got beef with Rat Race because it is so derivative of It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

I like a lot of the comedies that were already mentioned, so I just want to add two other ones.
Kind Hearts and Coronets: Obviously a showpiece for Alec Guinnes, playing no less than eight roles. But Dennis Price is great as well.
Tootsie: Sydney Pollack didn't know how to direct a comedy, thus he made it "real"; the result is one of my favourites.

I absolutely love The Three Amigos. Can't believe I didn't list it.

And I've got Bottle Rocket in the mailbox, mainly because of Trevor's recommendations.
