Ack, there's one more anime feature that I've been wanting to see but haven't gotten around to yet: Voices of a Distant Star (2002). I've heard so many good things about this sci-fi feature, and it's a point of shame that I haven't made an effort to find and watch it yet. :(

That's a good one. I'm a fan of Shinkai's work, especially 5 Centimeters. From what I've read, he animated Voices entirely by himself, which is really cool. It's more of a short than a full-length feature but it is still well worth checking out. It's available on Youtube, although it's probably best to watch it in a higher quality.

Might as well put up the list soon; a quick BUMP to see if any more additions will pop up. So, you know, if you're going to contribute now would be a good time.

Arbitrary deadline is SUNDAY. List will go up Monday.

Someone, somewhere put Vampire Hunter D on their list. Good call.

I edited mine a little awhile back; five entries now instead of two.

Go for it. Even if you're past the deadline it may still invite some commentary from your fellow posters.

Ok, I'm past the deadline but I still want to post, so bear with me here...

1. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
2. Ninja Scroll
3. Wall-E
4. The Incredibles
5. Battle Angel Alita (Does this count? Cause I think it's actually made up of two OVAs, but still...)
6. Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
7. Vampire Hunter D
8. The first Ranma 1/2 movie... don't remember the name but it makes me piss my pants every time. Just watch the insane opening scene, where every single character from the series manages to make an appearance.
9. Shrek (He's overplayed now, but the first movie is hilarious)
10. American Pop (I can't be the only one that remembers this one, right? It was the first truly "adult" animated movie I ever saw and made quite an impression)

I've never liked Ralph Bakshi's animation, ever. The worst anime production features better animation than the best of Bakshi's stuff, IMO. I've seen 3 of his films including American Pop; the others were Cool World and Wizards. While Bakshi's tackled adult themes in his work, especially when compared with Disney, anime features like Ghost in the Shell and Grave of the Fireflies do better jobs with this too.

Are you ready? Got the condom on? Let's fuck us some animation.

The list is done, compiled and will be posted in a few minutes in That Great Movie Threads.

BUT FIRST... some statistics!

There were 110+ unique titles given by the kind listers and I'm pleased to say that the top 20 is very clear-cut and statistically unambiguous.

There were 50+ titles that appeared only one time and, out of those 50+, about 30 appeared outside of people's top tens. Less than 10 of those single-vote titles were outside of a top 20 listing.

The most highly rated single-vote title was: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

The least highly rated single-vote title was: Antz

The least popular title to receive multiple votes: Ponyo

Any other stats or values are available upon request -- you'll need to PM me, however.

Added your updated list, Pedro. A few small changes here and there -- the most notable of which is that Ghost in the Shell now moves to #21.
