Worst movie you've received as a gift

Post Worst movie you've received as a gift
We all watch a ton of movies. The people in our real lives certainly know this. I'm sure they buy you movies as gifts just like they buy me movies as gifts. What are some of them that you absolutely hate, but didn't have the courage to tell the gift giver just how awful their taste is?

For instance, my mother gave me Swordfish and The Last Boyscout at the same time. Now, both of those movies are ok to watch on cable and laugh at their awfulness, but I have no desire to own either one. Yet, she was so happy she got them at Wal-Mart for $3 each that I didn't have the heart to tell her that.

She also gave me Crash because she loves it, so that means I must, apparently. What am I supposed to say? "Hey mom, this movie sucks and so does your taste," or "This is the worst Best Picture winner of my lifetime." Nope, I just said something along the lines of, "Wow, thanks."

What about you guys? What are some movies you either hate or are embarassed to own that someone bought you?

A girl my friend was once dating really wanted to get me something for my birthday and insisted on picking it out herself. She knew I was a big movie fan and presented her gift to me saying that it was her favorite movie and she was so excited to give it to me. It was Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights. He broke up with her later that night and we went to the store to exchange it.

I've got younger twin brothers...and I love them dearly...but if they get me another fucking Tom Shadyac film I am going to strangle them.

There will be no badmouthing The Last Boy Scout in this thread in my presence!

And I ask for my movies and I unfortunately have good taste cause I like everyone of my gifts.

Hilarious topic! Movies and books are the two things I love most (other humans, health and such notwithstanding) and so do some fairly heavy clenching when receiving non-certificate gifts. And so:

'Orgazmo' - from my then girlfriend, now wife. Her logic was fair: "You seem to like South Park and the commentary track on this was recorded when they were drunk!" The movie, which we watched together, was terrible. So, really, not a good example.

'The Matrix Revolutions' - As a stand-alone gift from my mother. I suspect she got it for free. I found the first one good but disliked the second. I still haven't watched this one.

'Feardotcom' - From a friend. "You like movies, right?" Unbelievers: this movie was terrible.

There. Fixed that up for you, free of charge.

Bob Harris' story is hilarious. I'm envious that he gets to tell that story.

Orgazmo sucks? My girlfriend's younger brother has been trying to get me to watch this with him for months. He swears it is hilarious and brings it up anytime a movie discussion takes place. I like Parker and Stone for the most part, and this is the only movie from the two I haven't seen.

Oh god, once I got the "RRRrrrr!!!"-dvd, it was meant good from my friend since I was learning French and at that time and therefore watching films mainly for language learning purpose. I was already a bit sensible about many French movies about this time (though there are some I deeply love!),
but this one .... just... like...
I couldn't stand more than some minutes of it.
Putting it out of my hands I couldn't stop wondering who the hell is willing to finance such kind of things ...

The worst film I ever got as a gift was Highlander 2, in the VHS format. It's the one and only time I literally urinated on a physical copy of a film before having it tossed out the window onto the street.

How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days- not only did my ex-girlfriend make me go see this in theatres, she also bought this for me for Christmas. I've watched it one time since and it was with her, it kinda worked out though as it was one of those let's "watch a movie" nights that gals use an excuse to get guys into bed without feeling cheap....I love those nights. Anyway, she's gone (THANK GOD) but the movie remains in my collection.....

Oh my, yes. It's bad viewing. Robert Smith of The Cure, however, would disagree - his love for Orgazmo is the very reason he landed a guest spot on South Park fighting Mecha Streisand. Weird but true!

After getting back from Korea back in 2003, my (then) wife, who knew how much I love James Bonds films, got me Die Another Day. Unfortunately, I never told her I had seen it while overseas or told her how much I hated it. Oops. Worst Bond film ever, with the possible exception of Diamonds Are Forever.

My best friend Brian got me "Barbershop 2". Twice. Oh, and "Kartracer", "Terror In A Texas Town", and "The Ballad of Jack & Rose". I figure the last one was dumb luck, since it was actually mildly decent.

You thought both of those films were worse than License to Kill or A View to a Kill? Oh dear, oh dear....

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. I have a very strict policy about respecting gifts from people, but I gave up on this one after 20 minutes and never attempted to finish it. O

I agree with AVTAK, but Licence to Kill is one of the best in the series.

Pffft. I'm going to find you Corpen, whereever you are, and we're going to sit down and watch Licence to Kill. And at every stupid moment--like when the guy is killed by electric eels that make lightning flashes, or when Bond pulls a lever that makes his truck do a wheelie--I'm going to give you this cold hard stare and watch as you sputter to defend your spurious claim that it's one of the "best in the series."

I REALLY don
t get the hatred for Licence To Kill, peronally i'll watch it over Casino Royale ANY day of the week, IMO AVTAK wasn't really bad, just extremely forgettable, and anyways it was a certainly a better film for Moore to exit the series with then the mediocre Octopussy was.
