Gimme your Top10 of the 00s: I'd like to collate our lists..

Post Re: Gimme your Top10 of the 00s: I'd like to collate our lists..
After seeing a few more films and rewatching some of my old movies on my old list i decided to add a new one.

10. Inglourious Basterds
9. Memento
8. No Country for Old Men
7. Avatar
6. Collateral
5. Munich
4. The Departed
3. The Dark Knight
2. Gladiator
1. LOTR Trilogy (Sorry I simply couldn't devote three of my precious spots to what is essentially one movie, also you already collated the lists so it doesn't really matter)

It pains me to remove Mission Impossible II and Minority Report from this list. Sorry Tom Cruise.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere:

Quote:
In a surprising twist, LAFCA -- or Los Angeles Film Critics Society -- has named David Lynch's Mulholland Drive as the best film of the decade, followed in order by: There Will Be Blood, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Brokeback Mountain, No Country for Old Men (tied with Zodiac), Yi Yi, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Spirited Away, United 93, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and Sideways.

I'm late late late to this thread. Sorry. If the spreadsheet isn't all kinds of locked up (or even if it is) I'll re-post what I vomited into another, less appropriate thread. The original post is here:
viewtopic.php?p=38519#p38519

The rankings have been done without enthusiasm as I'd say they're all #1 and leave it at that. For the sake of conformity I give you

01. Inglourious Basterds
02. My Winnipeg
03. Memento
04. A Serious Man
05. Ghost World
06. Adaptation
07. Inland Empire
08. Caché
09. Spirited Away
10. Paradise Now

The #10 was slightly arbitrary as I feel the first nine are far above and beyond the tenth no matter what title is in that spot. The full list of my second tier is available at the above link. They're all equally #10. I guess.

*breaks a bottle*

There can only be one who names Wall-E as favorite/best of the decade!

I think you guys were both beat to the punch by the Wall Street Journal critic, so maybe you could be like the Kuomintang and Communists in China and team up, despite your differences, to beat your true mortal enemy before fighting each other?

Great, who's the enemy in here? Just tell us and we'll go get 'em.

It's pretty good. ***1/2. It would have been better served not to wear its Saving Private Ryan inspiration so proudly on its sleeve, however

Post Re: Gimme your Top10 of the 00s: I'd like to collate our lists..
Old topic, just wanted to add some variety into the lists.
I suspect that I have not seen some films that will change the list, but I take time.

1. Amelie. Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Le (2001) (French)
2. No Country for Old Men (2007)
3. Amores perros (2000) (Mexican)
4. Talk To Her. Hable con ella (2002) (Spanish)
5. 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. 4 luni, 3 saptamani si 2 zile (2007) (Romanian)
6. Oldboy (2003) (Korean)
7. Day of the Wacko. Dzien swira (2002). I think the DVD is available in places like Netflix. This is kinda like Seinfeld, but more extreme. Not exactly "about nothing", but about little things driving the hero nuts. Completely hilarious.
8. The Battle In Heaven. Batalla en el cielo (2005) (Mexican)
9. 13 (Tzameti) (2005) (French-Georgian)
10. Late Marriage. Hatuna Meuheret (2001) (Israeli-Georgian)

So it does not look like I have been on a different planet, I watch American films as well.
11. Head On. Gegen die Wand (2004) (German)
12. The Loners Samotári (2000) (Czech)
13. Memento (2000)
14. Sin City (2005)
15. Requiem for a Dream (2000)
16. Mulholland Dr. (2001)
17. Auf der anderen Seite (2007) (German)
18. Dogville (2003)
19. A History of Violence (2005)
20. House of Sand and Fog (2003)
