So you're watching a movie and then you see some guy in it that you would never expect shows up. They could be cameos or One Scene Wonders or maybe just a surprise long-lasting character in the movie.

So here's some of my holy craps:

-Arnold Vosloo in Blood Diamond
-Bill Paxton in Commando
-Stallone in Bananas

Oh, and just to make it interesting...no Christopher Walken or Samuel L. Jackson, they're in everything dammit.

I'm a huge fan of Alias, so sometimes it's amusing to me to see some of the actor's from Alias in past movies I've seen and totally didn't realize until now.

For instance, Victor Garber was in Titanic and Ron Rifkin, well, he's been in a TON of things like L.A. Confidential, The Negotiator, ect.

Same thing with 24. People like Xander Berkeley and Dennis Haysbert have been in SO many movies. Heck, Berkeley and Haysbert were both in Heat.

I'm gonna catch shit for this. I know you guys don't really like him, but I couldn't help but smile when Will Ferrell came out of the shadows in Wedding Crashers.

I love Will Ferrell. I think the guy's hilarious. Who doesn't like Anchorman or Elf? And yes, Wedding Crashers is great. Loved him in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back too.

Not a huge fan of Ferrell, but I loved his cameo. Just when the movie was starting to drag a bit, his scene picked it back up. "Ma! The meatloaf! Fuck!" Love it.

I crack up whenever I see Terry Crews in a film. Including his two-second role as a corpse in "Terminator: Salvation".

Seeing Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Point Break was hilarious... he gets one line, does an awful delivery (including dancing) and gets punched in the face. That's it.

Other surprising cameos were John Travolta in the third Austin Powers movie (the last person I expected to show up) and Dustin Hoffman in The Holiday.

Didn't Kiedis get shot in the foot as well?

Speaking of The Red Hot Chili Peppers...I go, "Holy crap, that's effing Flea!"

Nihilist #2, The Big Lebowski

Jimmy Fallon in Almost Famous, David Schwimmer in Band of Brothers, and Don Rickles in Casino are the first names that came to mind.

Funny story about this: apparently, Flea had been taking German language lessons for months in preparation for this role. After all of that, the Coen brothers decided to cut all but two of his lines from the final film.

For me the big "Holy crap! That actor is in this movie!" moment in a film came from Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country with Christian Slater's appearance in a scene with George Takei. For that matter, I kinda had that "Holy crap!" feeling when I saw Leonard Nimoy appear in the new Star Trek film.

I think you mean, The Undiscovered Country. The Final Frontier was Star Trek V.

Whoopsy-doodle, you're right- I'm fixing it in my original post now.

Whenever I see Eric Balfour I think: "Oh hey! It's that guy!" I couldn't tell you if he's good or bad but I can tell you that, for a while, he was popping up in everything I watched. It was a weird cosmic coincidence.

I just remember Balfour as the ill-fated boyfriend of Jessica Biel's character in that remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But to stay on topic, I did think of other "Holy crap!" moments in film:

- David Duchovny showing up in Zoolander- I always thought he was trying to get as far away from The X-Files as possible to avoid being typecast.
- Robert De Niro in Backdraft.
- Tom Sizemore in Striking Distance.
- Adam Sandler in anything.

I see your Duchovny in Zoolander and raise you a Duchovny in Full Frontal. And although he had top billing in Full Frontal, one of Steven Soderbergh's stranger sojourns into the outer darkness of Hollywood, his appearance may be missed if you sneeze.

Yeah, the thought of Duchovny appearing in any Soderbergh film is one that creates that whole "Whoa, man." effect.

You guys ever watch an "older" movie that you haven't seen for a while and then go, "Wait, what the hell, that's (insert name here)!"

A while back I was watching City Slickers and saw a really young Jake Gyllenhaal popping his shoulder. It made me laugh to see him like that, I mean, after Jarhead and Brokeback Mountain and all.

Lots of times!! Like when you're watching Enter The Dragon, and you see that one of the extras who gets his ass handed to him by Bruce Lee in the cave scene is a very young Jackie Chan.

Also, it took me a very long time to realize that the disturbed kid in Parenthood is Joaquin Phoenix. I always assumed he was just another Phoenix brother.

I'll always remember Eric Balfour as Milo Pressman.
