Don't you mean #4? But good review, I do like the Lethal Weapon movies...well, not 2 but the first is definitely the best.

Actually, no. LETHAL WEAPON 4 is the third sequel. Or, to put it another way, installment #4 is sequel #3.

 Re: LETHAL WEAPON (1987)
I like all four movies. My favorite being the second movie and the fourth being my least favorite (although it's by no means bad). I do feel the reason these movies have been successful, essentially, is the relationship between Riggs and Murtaugh. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover is hard to beat and both actors play off well with each other.

As was so marvelously displayed in Maverick. Those 30 seconds with Glover and Gibson while Glover is robbing the bank are priceless.

Oh yeah, that part is funny. He pulls down Glover's mask as the "Lethal Weapon" music plays and they both glance at each other. Then as Glover's character leave the bank he says his "I'm getting too old for this shit" line. Here's a link to the clip in case anyone wants to see the scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiDlQgW1wO0

 Re: LETHAL WEAPON (1987)
I am sooooo happy that James likes this.
I actually like #2 the best, and to be quite honest, #4 is second for me, with the first one coming in right behind. I've never liked #3 that much. Chris Rock's schtick is bit forced in the fourth one, but overall I think he's a good character, Pesci is funnier here than in the third one, and I love the interaction between Riggs and Murtaugh. However, I did see them in that order (2,4,1,3), so that may affect my impressions of them.
However, I must say that the final fist-fight/karate match with Riggs and Gary Busey hasn't aged well at all in my mind. It seems pretty trite and unworthy of the elaborate action that has come before.
Anyway, like I said, I'm really glad that James likes this.

 Re: LETHAL WEAPON (1987)
I enjoyed the Lethal Weapon series a lot but my favorite from the series has to be Lethal Weapon 2, mainly due to the addition of Joe Pesci.

I think it's the best of the series; better writing, very good action scenes and the last 5 minutes are pure greatness.

Action movies are rarely realistic.
