 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
Gotta be honest, Independence Day is one of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen.

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
Two and two halves...does that make it three?

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
On the homepage, it looks like 3 1/2 stars and 2 1/2 stars mated and had a kid, which James then awarded to this movie. I was a little confused myself.

Oh, I see it now. The review page itself only shows 2 1/2

I too was confused by the 2 and 2 halves star rating, but based on the review I'm guessing only 2.5 stars was intended?

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
Well if lack of character development is the only major flaw, then i'm definitely seeing this. I felt much the same way about Inception that you felt about this film, it was diverting and mildly engaging at first, but eventually it got tiresome and I had a tough time caring about any of the characters(particularly Ellen Page, since her character is little more then a mouthpiece for exposition)

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
In the trailer, the aliens are flying all over the place and they show one big mother of an airship in the last trailer scene. Why does JB say they have no air support and are entirely ground-based? Does not compute.

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
It's funny. I hear keep hearing this movie being compared to Black Hawk Down which was a great movie despite the fact that that wasn't very strong on character development either.
Looking forward to it although the fact that it's from the director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning doesn't strike one with too much confidence. That movie was awful. But this does look like a MAJOR step up for him.

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
2 1/2 stars?!! Noooo!!! This movie was supposed to be awesome! I feel like a deflated balloon. I've been looking forward to it forever -- wishing and hoping it would be awesome. And the trailers look so kick ass! What a shame. I'll probably go see it this weekend regardless but now my expectations have been checked a bit.

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
I second that. It is an event movie that has yet to be equaled. Ebert has a great half-star review: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbc ... 992/-1/RSS.

 Re: BATTLE LOS ANGELES
I disregard what Ebert thinks about SciFi anymore. In his review of Trek '09 and what he wrote on his Twitter about this movie it appears he will only like a movie labeled as Science Fiction if the film meets and abides by all current scientific standards. You know like.... "a black hole would never behave that way" or "the aliens have guns growing out of their bodies, that would never happen".

Ebert doesn't like the new Star Trek? For what possible reason?

This review says all I need to know about the film(on a side note, Ebert's review was one of the worst pieces of shit i've ever read! I'm beginning to think that he should just retire already, as he dosen't even sound like he's trying anymore) http://www.joblo.com/arrow/reviews.php?id=1425
