Post Re: THIS MEANS WAR
The movie works when it's about the rivalry for Reese's affection from the guys, which fortunately, is most of the movie. But man, the action scenes in this movie sucked. Kind of surprising because I always thought McG handled the action scenes well in Charlie's Angels and especially in Terminator Salvation.

BTW, Reese has never looked sexier than she does in this movie.

Before anyone of you guys say "She wasn't in Twilight!" you're already thinking of the wrong Twilight:

Actually, I have seen that Twilight. The Twilight movie that is actually good. Of course with people like Paul Newman, Susan Surandon and Gene Hackman in the movie, OF COURSE it's going to be good!

And yes. Even though Reese shows her breasts in that movie and doesn't in This Means War (damn PG-13 rating! :x ) I still think she looks sexier in This Means War. Her sex scene with FDR is hot despite the fact there is no nudity and it's brief.

This film was originally rated R for "some sexuality" (most of which was Chelsea Handler's dialogue) so Fox had trim some stuff to get a PG-13 rating, i'll bet there'll be an unrated version on DVD.

OK, just got back from seeing this, and oh boy did I laugh my ass off(as did most of the audience) this is one of the funniest comedies i've seen in a long time, it's tough to pick a favorite scene, but all of Chelsea Handler's lines were gold(and this is coming from someone who dosen't normally find her particularly funny) Unlike James, I thought the characters were all pretty likeable in spite of they're actions, and I was satisfied with the ending(and that my assumption proved correct)

[Reveal] Spoiler:
Even though Tuck did care about Lauren, he obviously still had feelings for his ex, so it made sense for him to get back together with her, especially since they had a kid together, I don't really see how else the film could've ended

Totally agree with you Vex. I gave this one a 3.5/4 and I loved every minute of it. Everything JB said in his review is opposite of what I said (except for Chelsea Handler...she was awesome).

On another note, I think that this movie could be a huge hit in the gay community if marketed correctly. It's got Chelsea Handler, who is a huge gay icon, and the homoerotic undercurrent between FDR and Tuck is kind of hard to ignore. If this is getting poor reviews, than 20th Century Fox should take note if they want to make a profit.

Also, JB mentioned that it was hard to like Lauren because she's dating two guys at once. My question is, how is this different from any romantic comedy that starts out with the studly guy banging chicks left and right until he finds the girl he really loves? Both are just as sleazy but I think this is the sexual double standard that JB frequently talks about.

And yes, Vexy, I can't wait for the unrated DVD.

Glad you agree with me! And yeah, it does seem like a double stndard for people to call Lauren unlikeable because of her dating two guys, yet you rarely hear movie critics complaining about male characters dating two women at once, besides, Lauren did feel pretty guilty over the whole thing, and the only reason she really went through it in the first place is because of Trish's not-so-great advice.

I think what the guys do (bugging her house, using/abusing their CIA skills to find out information about her, etc.) is much worse than a woman dating 2 guys at the same time.

But none of it really bothers because the movie is too silly to take seriously anyway. I just thought the action scenes blow but the movie worked good enough as a romcom love triangle comedy.
