Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
I do NOT get why people like the Pirates films at all, they're loud, vaccuous, uninvolving, overlong and not the least bit entertaining, I truly hope this bombs at the box-office so we won't have to endure another tedious entry in this series.

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
Goodness, I have a hard time believing this is actually worse than the 3rd Pirates movie. That one went on forever yet the plot seemed to go nowhere. A friend of mine saw this last night and assured me that it was better than parts 2 and 3. I think I'll trust the judgement of JB in this case though as I never intend to see this (although there is a chance that I'll be dragged).
As for Penelope Cruz, has anyone else found her underwhelming in English language productions? Perhaps she's too focused on the dialogue because she sizzles when she speaks Spanish.

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
As a movie, On Stranger Tides would have to be considered a failure. The story does not engage, the characters are stick figures, the action sequences are perfunctory, and the whole enterprise reeks of being a money-grab.
and 2 stars?
Come on James - I remember when your pen was mightier than a sword. Two stars is 5 out of 10. if i thought this about a film we'd be looking at 3/10 or less.

Maybe this can explain the rating.On-topic: Meh, another one. I think I will set a time and date to not see this film.

Yup, sad situation when your expectations have been so beaten down by endless crap. I choose to watch great movies! Unfortunately, for James he can't do that. he's condemned to a summer of dross where this gets an average rating. James, you're like the airport toilet cleaner. We are all grateful but not sure we want the job Rob

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
I have sued the Walt Disney Company, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio in regards the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. Due to the putrid legacy of Michael Eisner, and continuing with Robert Iger & the board I, Royce Mathew, am still fighting for accountability over the theft of my supernatural pirate story that was used by the Walt Disney Company to start their Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. See photo proof of their criminal acts which includes fraud, lies and corruption as carried out by the Walt Disney Company, Marty Sklar, Jason Surrell, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, on my website www.disneylawsuit.comAnd check out this Marty Sklar / Michael Eisner / Royce Mathew photo proof: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m189 ... rMemo1.jpgAnd here is a recent 2011 online interview with me (Royce Mathew) in regards to my career which involves Disney, Michael Eisner, Marty Sklar and more... http://www.bigdaddyhorrorreviews.com/20 ... dream.html- I welcome all communications as this serious matter is far from over. Dear Ragnarok73 = Hi - I am an published indie artist and I have provided a link which details "WHO I AM". I am just one of many artists who dare to stand up and fight for accountability.

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
I think they should have hired different writers in additon to a different director. For a movie that is allegedly being called a "reboot" you'd think some fresh writing blood would give new life to the franchise and avoid the writing flaws of the previous films.
I also hear Johnny Depp got paid $35 million for this movie. You guys think he deserved it?

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
My apologies for the impolite tone of my last post. It was just quite a sudden thing for you to come in on your very first post here and declare that you're suing a major Hollywood studio for infringement on an original work you created. Personally, I wish you the best in that endeavor, as studios need a good slap whenever they steal ideas every once in a while. Anyhoo, welcome to these forums!

Hi Ragnarok - thanks - and especially when it comes to creative work, it is only through forums, fans and artists that any JEDI good can be reached. Currently I am working on a documentary that will be detail everything. -

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
In case of Pirates of the Caribbean my personal opinion is that they should have stopped after the first one. The initial movie was fun and a surprise success. Of course the studio bosses only saw dollars and wanted to milk the cow or squeeze the lemon, whichever metaphor you prefer. With the sequels the surprise was gone and it became a Bruckheimer action festival with a lousy story. It reminded me of The Matrix all over again: Well, of course we planned it as a trilogy right from the start! Yeah, right... Anyway, rant over. I won't be seeing this. Thanks to James for enduring it and confirming what I expected.

Vex You are letting your emotions rule your head if he gets paid $100m and the studio makes a profit, he was worth it Rob

Re: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
You're all forgetting the fact that this movie (and it's predecessors) is about pirates. You cannot go wrong with pirates, ever.
Also Ian Mcshane was a regular part of my childhood television viewing and I've yet to see him do any wrong (his own performance I mean, regardless of the movie/show).
Shame there is no Bill Nighy however.
