Who plays the same character the most - Jason Statham or Steven Seagal?

Hard to say, they've both played villains before. I think they're both very good at doing what they do, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I wish someone had told Stallone that before he starred in crap like Rhinestone and Oscar.

At least Stallone learned his lesson with a sense of legitimate humor about it. Try telling that to Seagal and you'll get a broken neck for your insolence.

Well, Seagal has a big lead on him, but it feels like Stratham pumps out several of these a year. He's catching up.

I've always hated Seagal though. He's just boring to watch. Statham at his worst still tends to be entertaining.

Statham definitely better than Seagal. For me, Seagal always came across as being a little too cocky to the point of arrogance. Often the time I wished someone would just execute Seagal already in one of his moves, just to wipe that smug smirk from his face.

The first half of the movie is terrific. I actually loved the setup to the movie. It made you feel really sorry for both Luke and Mei. I do think, however, the movie isn't quite as good once they are separated. Also, the second half of the movie becomes extremely convoluted. I would have preferred it for the movie to keep things simple and simply be about Luke protecting Mei. But once we start finding out just why this girl is being chased and what the code is all about, all sorts of characters start becoming more involved and I think the movie begins to loose sight of the tender story involving Luke and Mei's relationship. The movie does find it's footing again near the end but it feels like a different film still and quite frankly not as good as the one we got in the first half. Still enjoyable as a whole. Statham kicks ass as usual. The movie moves at a reasonable pace and is never boring. I just wish the whole movie was as good as the first half.

Still worthy of three stars despite my grievances.

BTW, as far as comparing Statham to Seagal, there is no competition. Statham is an infinitely better actor than Seagal ever was. I enjoy a lot of Seagal's movies (at least before he was relegated to straight to DVD flicks), the Under Siege flicks are especially cool, but I'm under no delusion that Seagal can act.

True, people watch Seagal's films to see him kick ass, not act.

I totally agree with this assessment. The movie really starts to pull itself apart after the first hour. I also found the editing to be unnecessarily frantic. It pales in comparison to "The Raid." For me, it's two and half stars.
