Post Would Tom Selleck have made a good Indiana Jones.
I have just gotten through
]Ike: Countdown to D-Day
see link

This is a fine performance from Tom Selleck. I have looked up his biography before and one of the main things it always focuses on , is the fact that he had to turn down Indiana Jones to do Magnum Pi.

The real sin of course is that he could have done both.

I feel that he would have been a fine Indiana Jones. He is every bit as good an actor as Harrison Ford and I feel that TS's interpretation of the character would have been more laid back. I have also read reports that he is very good with any of the crews he has worked with and because the "Lost Ark" was such a collaborative affair he would have fitted in really well.
I also feel that he would have kept his mustache so that he would look even more like action hero equivalent of Howard Carter

I saw a documentary once about Howard Carter on the BBC and it was suggested that Indiana Jones was a action star equivalent of Howard Carter.
I feel that Tom Selleck has a great deal of integrity about him and because of this i feel that he deserves more credit than he gets. He also does not take himself too seriously. He is one of only 3 people to accept in person a Golden rasberry award.

No. Tom Selleck is a good Magnum P.I. though.

Not much you can tell from a screen test, but if you want a rough sample:

And Selleck discussing it on Letterman:

I like Tom Selleck, he's a good actor. But I think everyone can agree that this was for the best. Harrison Ford WAS Indiana Jones. Can't imagine anyone else as Indy. And likewise, Tom Selleck WAS Magnum. Can't imagine anyone else being him as well. Two 80's icons. Just that one is in the movies and the other is television.

Fucking oath he would've. Hard to imagine Harrison not playing the lead in the best action/adventure trilogy, yes trilogy, ever made, but Tom would've been just fine.

This reminds of some rumours doing the rounds on the Internet that Disney/Lucasfilm is thinking of recasting Indiana Jones for an all-new trilogy and the top contender for the role is Bradley Cooper. Any thoughts?

Make one more Indy movie (don't leave us hanging with 4 of them) and let that be the end of it.

If they HAD to go the reboot route due to Harrison Ford's age, he's not a bad pick. My pick would personally be Josh Holloway.
