Post The Funniest F*cking Thing Ever Put On Film
Because there are times when a subject line must be profane to really sell the point.

A simple thread wherein we, you and I, think up and write down examples of comedy genius that was filmed and, later, placed in front audiences for their amusement. A scene, possibly even several scenes, that are so wonderful that they make us turn to our beloveds and say "That? That was the funniest fucking thing ever put on film." And our beloveds will perhaps agree, maybe point out that we have said this several times and will likely change our minds as we are apt to do. But in the moment? Oh, how we laughed and celebrated the wizards who realized this incredible moment and created not just gold but Fucking Funny Platinum.

I'll also accept examples of accidental comedy and, why not, invite others to disagree or agree as they see fit. This thread will be our corner bar.

I offer this:

Comedies seldom offer much to blow my mind; I'll often be plenty amused entertained, maybe even smile or laugh along with others, but the Stay Puft Marsmallow Man's appearance at the end of Ghostbusters is the greatest comedy pay-off in my viewing experience. This movie, great big awesome effects-drenched blockbuster genius movie that it is, has the conviction in its own weird mission to end with a gigantic, furious marshmallow man wrecking a city. When I watch it, it actually short circuits my ability to laugh: it's so fucking funny that I am temporarily paralyzed, my mind unable to communicate with itself. When the sequence ends, I am able to grasp the enormity of this insane idea. I then laugh and post something on a forum about it.

It's a classic moment and every bit as great as legend would have me think. Not only that: it's the funniest fucking thing ever put on film.

What do you have?

With apologies to those who create meticulously constructed, narrative-based intellectual comedy.

I did see it pretty recently, but in a movie full of great gags, I could have picked any of them. My biggest laugh is for this scene:

Though another one is a runner-up, based on the fastness from "I have an idea!" to this:

@ Peng

What movie is that?

The Jackass people have some kind of corner on producing stuff the world has never before seen. Even the most daring, careful blockbuster and sensitive, caring indie looks like so much old news in comparison to Knoxville's bizarre ideas. He's like Buñuel but with farts.

Haha! One of my favorite parts from the Jackass movies is when they put an alligator in the mom's kitchen and the mom walks in and is totally freaked out. The look on her face was just hysterical!

Somehow I missed putting that in the post. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

Exactly. There's an element of twisted creativity that sets it forever apart from so many lame YouTube pranks.

Like, yeah, it's funny that they're getting surprised by a thing that pops out and knocks them down, but the fact that it's a giant hand makes it brilliant.

Hard to say exactly what the funniest thing i've ever seen in a film is, though I will say that I laughed my ass off numerous times during both We're The Millers and The Heat last year.

Jackass on the other hand is pretty much the antithesis of comedy to me, I find nothing at all amusing about any of those films, they're just excruciating to sit through.

Jesus! Johnny Knoxville is one crazy mofo!

I think the other thing I remember cracking up and also cringing was when one of them is battling a giant anaconda and gets bitten by it a few times I think.

I wasn't sure why Ken and Vexer's brief exchange seemed so familiar until I sat down to do some reading.

I'm going to offer up a degree of pretension here, and say that my first 2 films are not only funny, but unique in their humour and execution.

The first is the demise of the Illinois Nazis in The Blues Brothers. Just one of the groups of people the Bros decidedly pissed off en-route. A fabulous and bizarre scene that has little relation to geography and physics

The second is the ending to Crank 2. Which is not only hilarious, but offensive, grotesque, and has possibly the best/worst use of a pop music soundtrack I've ever come across.

Number 3 from me is a good deal more subtle. The Goy's teeth scene from A Serious Man

One of the many scenes that defines Robocop's subtle and not-so-subte humour - The Mayor Hostage scene.

Robocop disarms the man, then in an act of celebrated revenge, decides to punch him through the window of the building (presumably killing him).

Funny thing about this scene, is that it's easy to almost miss. It's just a continuation of the violence on screen. But Robocop is meant to be immaculate in his observation of the law; and yet here delivers a summary execution of an unarmed man, to great cheers from a braying mob and the local media. A grotesque and hilarious moment that I now identify as a kind of spiritual descendant of the Crank movies.

Jackass has an almost undeniable charm (que Vexer, "Well I found it deniable.") and more often than not is just goddamn hilarious. Also, comments such as "He's like Bunuel with farts" are why I missed Mark so much. The alligator in Bam's moms kitchen is still the funniest fucking shit, that woman has got to be a saint.

However, I got a doozy. Most the entirety of Monty Python & the Holy Grail.
"Well that depends, is it a European Swallow or an African Swallow?"
"What? I don't know."
Or the beauty that is this exchange;
"And how do we know she is a witch?"
"Well she turned me into a newt!"
"...a newt?"
"...I got better..."
(random villager): "Burn her anyway!"
I got two more lines for you
"I'm not dead yet!"
"Oh shut up, you will be soon."

Some of the gags in Crank 2 are so funny. All of them are. The whole thing just feels like a mad trip. And the insanity just never stops escalating. Some of my favorites have to be the porn strike and David Carradine as the 100 year old Chinese crime lord. And there's a subtle sadness at the end of it all which I appreciate.

Kudos for getting Crank and subtle into the same paragraph
