I'll do my best on this one, but 6 trips to the theater will be a tough go. Would a late-run, budget-cinema visit count?

I'm in for this, but I'm shooting for 10.

Reasons for this: 1) I can walk to a movie theater from where I live in less than 3 minutes. 2) I'm off work from 12/23 through the end of the year. 3) Like James Cameron, I'm raising the fucking bar!

That's why you're the first person to ever earn my wub! I would also put myself down for 10, but the mainstream releases look really weak (Hobbit -- no. Madea -- no. Anchorman 2 -- no) so I won't have those to go with my arty films

Memories! How sweet.

I'll see Anchorman 2 (fan of the first, but the trailers for the second are not inspiring), but the other mainstream releases look really lackluster. I'll probably have to throw in a few I don't really care about (Saving Mr. Banks, 47 Ronin) to get to 10.

The only mainstream release this month I was truly interested in was Jack Ryan, but unfortunately i'll have to wait til next month for that one.

One-sixth of the way to the goal. Watched Catching Fire last night. Gets a solid 3 stars from me.

This will all largely dictate how many films I'm planning to see actually get more than a limited release within the month. I know "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" will for sure, and most likely "The Wolf of Wall Street;" perhaps even "American Hustle"... but am unsure about "Nebraska," "Inside Llweyn Davis," "Her," and "Labor Day." Of course, 10 years ago they ALL would've gotten full theatrical releases, no question. What dark times are these. :?

My plans! It's rough and things are likely to change, but hitting eighteen movies should be doable if I've got seventeen listed right here. I'll probably be able to throw in a something somewhere that I didn't know one of my movie theaters would be getting, like Errol Morris's The Unknown Known.

12/7: Nebraska, Broken Circle Breakdown, 20 Feet from Stardom maybe
12/8: Frozen, The Great Beauty
12/14: Out of the Furnace, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
12/15: The Book Thief, Philomena
12/21: Inside Llewyn Davis, American Hustle
12/22: Saving Mr. Banks, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Before the end of the year: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Wolf of Wall Street, that fuckin' Mandela movie, and maybe Anchorman 2

Next year, for better for worse: The Past, August: Osage County, Walking with Dinosaurs, The Invisible Woman, Her, Labor Day, Lone Survivor if it gets Oscar nominations, etc.

Man, Pedro is waving that thing around like a porn star, but hopefully without the porn stache (Movember is over ;) ). I don't think I can blast that much nut in one month, however.... with 13 full days off between now and dec 31st, I will go for 10, gentlemen!

Post Re: December 2013: The Theatrical Up-Nutting
I just watched in the cinema Ender's game which opened today in Australia , so this is my first entry for this challenge. My review below

Enders Game
: 3 Stars
In this sci/fi war thriller, young Ender Wiggin ( Asa Butterfield ) is the one destined to finally resolve a conflict between an Alien race and Earth ( It reminded me a bit The Matrix but with a younger Neo ) and Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) is his main mentor with the help of Major Gwen Anderson (Viola Davis) . I found this film uneven, some times very entertaining and other a bit boring but entertaining enough to warrant 3 stars.

Note: I have not read the book (Published in 1985) and when I left the Cinema I did not feel my mind blown away with the themes dealt in the movie although some people have told me that the book is very entertaining and a bit complex which leave you thinking after you finishes it

It will be a problem. I've seen (and liked) Frozen, but Inside Llewyn Davis and The Desolation of Smaug are the only other must-sees. I may see Black Nativity for the season. And The Wolf of Wall Street, though that may not make it here until January.

Wolf of Wall Street comes out wide on Christmas day. So you shouldn't have to wait till January to see it.

For me, there are TONS of movies coming out that I'm excited about. Out of the Furnace, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smuag, American Hustle, Saving Mr. Banks, Grudge Match, Anchorman 2, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Her, Lone Survivor, Wolf of Wall Street I'm looking forward to. Though, I likely won't be able to see Lone Survivor and Her until January when they are scheduled to open wide.

Only seen Frozen so far. I've been up north with my dad visiting his childhood home. There are a few theaters nearby that show Snowpiercer, but as often with the case of foreign movies in theaters outsides big cities here, they're... dubbed. :? Can't wait to get back to Bangkok.

Movie 1: Nebraska
Director: Alexander Payne
Rating: ***1/2

16.7% of the way there! Nebraska was a terrific film. I love the way Payne mixes character development and humor, and with the possible exception of Citizen Ruth, which didn't move me, he's never made a movie that I don't like a great deal. An excellent start to December

So today I'm actually seeing Philomena and The Broken Circle Breakdown. Tomorrow is Nebraska and The Great Beauty. Frozen gets pushed back to next weekend.
