Mad Max: Fury Road' Testing Well; Mel Gibson Not in Movie

Quote:
"Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well," Miller said. "We're very happy. There has been a lot of doubt about it, [people saying] 'it took so long', but Warners have delayed it until 2015 to go into the top weekend of the year."

.....Badass Disgest's source said Warner Bros. liked what Miller had done, so the studio gave the director additional budget to beef up an action sequence.

What about the rumors of a Mel Gibson cameo?

"It would have been nice somehow but, no, it's not true," Miller said.

Mad Max: Fury Road, in theaters on May 15, 2015

This year got in fast & Furious VI but Batman,Superman & Wonder Woman got delayed to 2016. It would lose all the hype/magic if Bond 24 get delayed too. Filiming should start on October this year and writer John Logan is still writing Bond 24 & Bond 25:

Quote:
Though the writer did indicate that the next two films would carry forward what had been established with Skyfall.

One of the intentions with Skyfall was to recapture and contemporize some of the classic elements of Bond. "My goal is to write a great movie that's appropriate, to build on what we did on Skyfall, but make it its own unique animal," Logan said of the teams aspirations for Bond 24. "The themes, ideas and the characters from Skyfall can obviously continue on, because it is a franchise, and it is an ongoing story. So I think there's resonance from Skyfall in the new movie."

I wonder if that means they've effectively abandoned the Quantum storyline.

I sure hope not, there's some real potential there.

Well the connexion Quantum of Solace and Skyfall is broken as writers Neil Purvis and Robert Wade were given their marching orders by the Bond producers as Mendes did not want to work with them any more.

Sam Mendes brought John Logan for Skyfall which starts in Quantum Solace mode but finish in a modern version of the classic cinematic Bond ;-)

I'm actually glad about the Bat/Supes delay, been secretly hoping for it all along because I figured there was no way they'd have it ready by July 15. That was insane. And THANK GOD Marvel is FINNNAALLLLYY giving up its first week of May slot for the first time in 9 years. Jesus. Anyway, excellent move by DC/WB pitching Bat/Supes between Avengers, Bond, and Star Wars was a pretty big risk. Perhaps now Ant-Man will garner more hype?

As I predicted, 2015 shrinks into a smaller year all the time, though I guess we do get Fast 7 now. And I agree, they BETTER NOT push Bond 24 back too. Fuck that.

Losing the QoS screenwriters isn't 100% a death knell for the Quantum storyline, though it certainly doesn't look good.

What is a death knell, or what looks like one to me, is the massive amount of time that will have gone by if they ever decide to pick up that story again. Two movies, at least five years in the real world and who knows how long in-story. Will anyone still care by that point?

I'd argue that QoS as a movie is kind of its own animal compared to Skyfall. Actually, I'd argue that Casino Royale could logically lead to either QoS or Skyfall, but not quite both--almost as though the timelines diverge after Casino and each one got its own sequel.

Not that the Bond movies ever had much obligation to hang together in continuity, except in the broad strokes.

My take "with the information at hand" is that Bond 24 will be a direct sequel to Skyfall as in line to this article :

Quote:
The last Bond film "Skyfall" featured a number of crucial developments. M, played by Judi Dench, died at the hands of Silva (Javier Bardem), who was promptly killed by Bond at the climax of the film. Mallory (Ralph Fiennes) took over M's position and is presumably the new "M" while Ben Whishaw was introduced as the tech whiz Q. Naomi Harris' character was also revealed as being the noted Moneypenny and it is likely that her relationship with the mercurial hero.

This would be the second direct sequel in the franchise featuring current Bond star Daniel Craig. "Quantum of Solace" was a sequel to the franchise reboot "Casino Royale," but "Skyfall" had little to do with the two previous films aside from its main cast members

Hard at this point to get in details as ...well... Logan is still writing it and even Mendes knows the "broad strokes" of the story he does not want to give anything at this point to keep creative control for final adjustments before filming starts.

I am cool for what I know so far myself :-)

Bond 24 seems on track for 2015 as the first script draft is almost ready , besides Logan (the writer) , Mendes and the producers of course also Daniel Craig is very much involved in it.

The line up for 2015 still impressive.

I will definitely go to see in the Cinema:

    Avengers: Age of Ultron
    Bond 24
    Stars Wars: Episode 7
    Mission Impossible 5
    Mad Max: Fury Road
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2
    Ant Man
    Jurassic World
    The Fantastic Four
    Fast & Furious 7

and maybe

    Terminator Genesis
    Ted 2
    Resident Evil 6
    Bad Boys 3
    The man from U.N.C.L.E

I doubt Bad Boys 3 will come out in 2015, though I could be wrong.

And Bond 24 will definitely come out in 2015 as the movie has been confirmed, by Ralph Fiennes, to begin shooting in October.

Sam Mendes Explains His Bond 24 Return

Quote:
First of all, Mendes explained his decision to direct Bond 24 after initially balking when he realised that he'd started a "number of stories that were incomplete", adding "I cast a new M, I cast a new Moneypenny, I cast a new Q. I felt there was a second part of a two-part story... " He also mentions that hearing the first Skyfall audience's roar of happiness - the "orgy of nostalgia", as he puts it - when the Aston Martin DB5 was revealed helped persuade him.

Also making things easier was Bond HQ's willingness to be flexible. "[It helped] when [Eon] agreed to wait a little longer and not go immeadiately - not go with two movies [and instead] go with one, which I felt very strongly about."

He also mentions that Bond 24 will feel like the second part of Skyfall, although it will not have a direct narrative continuation.

There is a 56 minute video included that if you want to see starting with the Bond part then go to 17 minute :-)

At any rate, I'm sure Edgar Wright still got paid in full as writer/director.

Bond 24 schedule for 2015 at risk

Quote:
Filming won’t begin until a script is in place, and Purvis and Wade have reportedly been called in to “‘punch up’ the script and sprinkle in more gags, emphasizing the witty repartee between Daniel Craig’s 007 and Naomie Harris’s Miss Moneypenny, and focusing on the interplay between Bond and Ralph Fiennes’s M.”

Well if Bond gets moved to 2016 then that year will definitely be bigger than 2015 as far as box office is concerned

There's also talks about JJ Abrams' wanting Star Wars to be pushed to May 2016. If that happens, then 2016 will be bigger than 2015. Especially since that's also when Avatar 2 is suppose to come out.

If that happens, Batman/Superman will be pushed back as well.

That's my big hope right now... and Harrison Ford's injury could be the blessing in disguise that makes it happen. :? May the Force be with all SW films getting May releases.
