NotHughGrant's LoveFilm Adventure #2
Human Traffic (1999)
This has aged badly, whilst still clinging onto some of its themes. My issue with it now is that is simultaneously offers the vague "drugs are bad" message by the end; whist almost completely pandering to the pro-drug crowd for the duration of the film.
For this to mixed message to work, there needs to be a fairly comprehensive cultural context, that Human Traffic only really dips its toes into. Still a pretty entertaining film though.
Fantastic Mr Fox (2009)
Goodness me. What an odd but quaintly charming piece of viewing this was. Me, my Wife, and our nearly-4 year old Daughter were all glued to this. George Clooney is ingeniously cast as the charming and innovative head of the Fox family as they face a existential crisis. It works on one or two levels I never knew existed. Good stuff!
Fast and Furious (2009)
More of the same – for better and worse.
Your enjoyment will depend entirely on your investment in the franchise.
