Man, I wish I had been part of this thread when it first started. I'll throw out ten in no particular order.

Inception (my fave of 2010)
Toy Story 3
Shame (my fave of 2011, yup, not everyone in this forum hates it 8-) )
The Artist
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Fincher version)
A Separation
Looper (fave of 2012)
Gravity
Fruitvale Station
12 Years a Slave

7. Hugo
8. Hunger Games: Catching Fire
9. Inception
10. Zero Dark Thirty

Subject to change drastically, of course. In fact, I would guess that Gravity will move down--and Hunger Games up--over time. The top 3/4 are pretty solid, though--except that in certain moods I think Beasts of the Southern Wild is one of my favorites ever.

In no particular order, here are 10 that have stood out the most for me so far:

Moonrise Kingdom
Perfect Sense
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Midnight In Paris
Skyfall
Holy Motors
Toy Story 3
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Tangled
Martha Marcy May Marlene

I think I'll wait until the year ends before placing any 2013 films into that list.

Might not be on my list itself, but incredibly underrated. Who knows you can do epic (almost Shakespearean) with owls, in (great) animation nonetheless?

I like to think I have a higher than average tolerance for abstract and mostly meaningless arty nonsense, but Holy Motors was a step too far for me.

It's tame compared to tarkovsky/tarr/fassbender/rivette, etc.

Very epic and majestic for how short it is. Seems to represent snyders personality best out of all his movies. In one interview he implied that the inclusion of the owl city song was the work of the studio. But hell, I think it works nicely as does all the other music. Because the characters are always floating, the movie has a different, more mellifluous feel from anything else I can think of.
