I have seen all nine Best Picture nominees this year, yet one of my local movie theaters is planning on showing all of these films over the course of the next week, showing five tomorrow and four on Monday. Obviously, sitting in a dark movie theater on a day off isn't my idea of fun, seeing as reviewing movies is one of the things that I do for a living, but I just can't resist. I was no fan of Les Miserables
, but I will probably end up sitting through it simply because I have nothing else to do.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on Oscar marathons? Are they a great way to catch up on excellent cinema, or do they ruin the experience by forcing the viewer to watch almost a dozen films almost all at once?
