Yeah because it's not like it's fun or anything to come up with a Top 10 at the end of the year. Particularly when you could wait a year to add a movie that's released in the following year

I personally care more about accuracy than timeliness. Besides, one can always go back and amend said list; it shouldn't be set in stone.

But what I'm trying to impress upon you is that "accuracy" isn't necessarily even served by putting Frances Ha on 2012. After all, Crash was released in 2004 but got released in 2005 and thus was a 2005 movie for the Oscars, so there's some confusion if you included it (not that I think you would) with your 2004 Top 10

I'd say it's only confusing for those who aren't genuine film buffs. :P That's the trouble with Toronto/Venice/Telluride premieres; many of them don't get theatrical releases until the following year. But again, why ultimately should American theatrical release be given more weight than world premiere date (at least among us film buffs)? We're not the only country in the world. :|

But we're far and away the most important cinematically. That's not chauvinistic, that's just true.
