Re: Where Will "TDKR" End Up on the Tomatometer?
I feel like most of what earns 100% (or close to it) tend to either be foreign, animated, or documentaries (those examples are obvious) or stuff that is appealing and entertaining to a huge audience, but not necessarily great movies (the newest Star Trek and The Social Network come to mind). Of films that have been released since the inception of RT, very few that earn massively high ratings are films that I love. If they are able to be in the 90% range, I find that they tend to be films I like but don't love. My top 3 since '99 scored 87%, 83%, and 78%, respectively. Nothing to sneeze at in terms of rating, but it speaks to my biggest problem with RT, which is that it still doesn't measure
how much someone likes or doesn't like it, it simply measures which way they lean. Therefore films that are appealing and nice beat out films that challenge and stretch in terms of RT score.
As far as TDKR, my belief is that it will be around 82%. I could certainly see 78% as MGames stated. If the movie is the best damn film of all time (which it won't be) it'll have detractors who take it down for no other reason than to go against the flow. I think it ends up decently below TDK's 94%. I hope it ends up that way because of unnecessary hatred, but I'm betting my dog and lot that the film is bloated.
My only hope is that it has an ending similar to that of the show
The Wire and that
Bruce Wayne dies. Seems the right conclusion, and JGL can take over for him.
