IMAX DOME vs LieMAX in preparation for TDKR?
I would like to see The Dark Knight Rises in the best format possible, but unfortunately, a true, flat IMAX 15/70mm theater is no where near me. I can either go to a digital IMAX theater that is in my city, or go see it at an IMAX dome (which will be projected with a real 15/70mm projector). I'm obviously partial to the real IMAX film projection, but I've never seen a live action movie in a dome theater before. Does the dome throw off the image in any way? Will I feel weird? Does it look as good as a flat 15/70 projection screen?
I do believe that the digital LiMAX near me looks better than any normal theater, but still...if Nolan filmed 50 mins with IMAX cameras, then damnit I want to see it how it was meant to be seen.
Note: I saw TDK in a real, flat, 15/70mm IMAX theater and my jaw hit the floor. Since then I haven't experienced anything as gourgeuos (although I have yet to revisit a real IMAX theater). Will an IMAX dome be as spectacular?

Re: IMAX DOME vs LieMAX in preparation for TDKR?
I saw How to Train Your Dragon in an IMAX dome at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa. It was fun, but not an ideal moviegoing experience. I don't know how other domes are, but I'm pretty sure there was nowhere you could sit in that dome in Tampa where you could see the entire screen without turning your head. Made following action scenes sometimes difficult.
The image was huge, and immersive all right, but I wish I could have been sitting about 20 or 30 feet further back. Also, being a dome, the quality of the image on the corners wasn't as good.
EDIT: One more thought. I have never bought a ticket to a LIEMAX showing of a movie and come out feeling I got my money's worth. The closest was maybe Avatar, since 3D looks better with every square inch you can add. But with TDKR, where a LIEMAX screen won't get you the "side of a building" size screen or the IMAX aspect ratio? I just don't see how that would get you anything you couldn't get by showing up early to a regular screening and sitting up close.

Re: IMAX DOME vs LieMAX in preparation for TDKR?
I guess only one person on this board has seen a movie in an IMAX dome?...
this board needs to get an influx of people or something.

The closest IMAX theater is a 3-hour drive for me. There are only four IMAX theaters of any sort (IMAX, Dome, 3-D) in Germany.
There was one in Munich at the Deutsches Museum, but it closed in 2005.

I saw Avatar (2-D) on an IMax dome. (They didn't offer the 3-D which was fine by me because 3-D doesn't work for me.) I found the image kind of stretched and blurred out at the edges and the picture seemed kind of underlit to me. Also agree that you spend most of the time concentrating on the middle 70-80% of the screen as you need to turn your head to get at the edge detail on the 20-30% of the frame at the sides.
