Post A New and Different "Guess That Movie Game"
While spending time on lots of trains in London, I came up with a new movie game. It worked very well with my wife in person, and I think it will work equally well (if not more so) with you folks.

In any event, the game is very simple. The person whose turn it is describes a movie by plot. Whoever gets it goes next. Ideally, you keep things as unspecific as possible. For example:

"Three men stumble across four million dollars in a downed plane..."

The only rule I created was that you cannot use any word from the movie's title in your description. So if describing my favorite action movie of all time, you could not say

"The US Colonial Marines battle aliens on planet LV-426."

However, you could say

"The US Colonial Marines battle xenomorphs on planet LV-426"

When my wife and I played we tried not to give the year the film was made or the actors who were in it, though we cheated on the latter when using romantic comedies as many of them have almost the exact same "plot." Use them at your own discretion.

So I hope this can emerge as a complement to Josh's terrific game thread, but if not that's okay too. Use it when stranded with movie folks on a train. In the meantime, I'll start off with:

A Southern lawyer defends a black man who killed the two white men who raped his daughter.

To Kill a Mockingbird. This sounds fun :)

A detective attempts to find answers from a hypnotist who seems to have short-term memory loss.

Oh Jooooooooooooooosh....you didn't correctly solve mine :). Think less Harper Lee, and more John Grisham

A Time To Kill.

Now try this one:

A cop must contend with villains involved in a major heist. But things are not all as they seem

The Usual Suspects. Even if I'm wrong, I think it's fair to say that I'm still right.

For Ken's I'll guess The Ladykillers, either version, but I'm going to wait to see if he actually got Jeff's right before I continue.

Not quite Ken. I'll give a slight hint. One of the actors in it has been in movies since she was 13 or so and got nominated for an Oscar around that age.

As for your question: Fargo?

Let's make sure there's only one going at a time. Officially, it seems no one has gotten Jeff's yet and thus he's still up. And his clue makes me think of Jodie Foster or Saiorse Ronan

Alright well then I'm almost positive you're talking about Inside Man.

Excellent. I'll continue with:

In a world where advancement (and society at large) is contingent upon genetic perfection, an imperfect man uses guile and resourcefulness to rise through the system. However, at the cusp of his greatest triumph, his masquerade is threatened by a murder within his company.

Try this on for size:

A young couple consummates their love before the boy is sent off to war. In grief, the girl, pregnant with the boy's child, marries another, more well-off man. When the boy returns from war after being wounded, he also marries another, this time a woman who had been caring for a dying relative.

I could have made it vaguer, but I'm not feeling very insidious at the moment.

A renowned doctor is wracked with guilt after succeeding in murdering his lover, while a filmmaker falls in love only to have his heart broken. This leads both men to raise questions of morality, responsibility, and the absence/existence of God.
