See if you can find In My Father's Den. It's a New Zealand film, and possibly the best this country has ever made.

That is a great shame indeed. I'd rate it 9/10. Personally, I found it a lot better than wider known NZ films such as Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider, Boy etc. Incidentally, all those are worth seeing too, if you haven't already.
I have yet to see This Way of Life (which is a documentary), but will do so shortly. Apparently it is also very good.
There is (albeit slightly) more to NZ cinema than Peter Jackson, fortunately.
