I dig the new direction, not sure about the other stuff.

As long as it addresses the themes in an intelligent way and doesn't devolve into "Group A is fighting Group B because evil is bad," it has a fighting chance.

And just look at the cast!

Looks hit or miss to me. I'm hoping to be surprised like I was with X-Men. Thought it was going to suck but I ended up digging it a lot. It's all about how the material is treated. Too bad Angel was introduced too late. I would have preferred a proper X-Men origin story.

the director has directed at least 2 decent film, kick ass and Layer cake
he has also produced some of the best films to come out of the UK. Harry brownw, Snath, Lock stock ,
HE also seems to aheva some intgrety. I read that he wasdoing the 3rd xmen film but walked when he didn't like the way the ways was going.
I'ld say that it will be allright.

Stardust was also very enjoyable.

I loved Layer Cake and Kick-ass, though.

I'm more confident for this than I was for Wolverine in '09. Vaughn has proven he can handle a budget, and after hearing about all the interference that kneecapped Wolverine, it seems that Vaughn has remained defiant on making the film he set out to make. I've got faith in this bad boy.

To me this looks a lot more interesting then Wolverine.

The story of Professor X and Magneto, that of how good friends became bitter enemies, a story hinted at in the X-Men movies but never fleshed out should make for compelling cinema.

Also, the backdrop of the cold war, I hope will be used to add another layer of depth.

Sounds like a decent flick in theory. They've also got a good director and a decent cast (Jennifer Lawrence of Winter's Bone is in this!).

It's still kinda a prequel though. The thing with prequels is that you know where they're headed. Takes some of the enjoyment out of the final product. Still, the journey can be fun too, right?

Coming from someone who really had no expectations for this, and from someone who has never really enjoyed any film in the X-Men franchise, I have to say that I was seriously impressed by the trailer. The big reason I think is because of the cast they've assembled. Apart from the central duo of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (who looks absolutely badass as Magneto), you have January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, and KEVIN BACON! That's a hell of a cast, with a good amount of serious talent in the supporting roles. Plus, I really like that it's a '60s period film. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the trailer has actually got me kind of excited for this.

I pretty much had no idea they were even making another X-men film, so I'm quietly impressed but still have low expectations for it.

I dunno about this one, Wolverine wasn't particularly memorable and i'm not so sure Aronofsky is the right director for this series, i'll most likely end up waiting for this to come out on DVD.

Big A's not directing this one. Unless I missed something.

Aronofsky is directing the Wolverine sequel. Matthew Vaughan is directing First Class

Ah, I got the two mixed up, anyways knowing the director of Kick Ass is behind this gives me a bit more confidence, but i'm still not so sure about seeing it in theaters.
