This film garnered 2 academy awards and has one scene very nearly mimicked in an "A-ha" music video.

According to imdb, the answer is a film called Death In Love. The actor in the photo, Lukas Haas, is credited as "Youngest Son". The picture has been confirmed through an image search on bing.

I want to say that's David Cronenberg's terrible The Brood.

That would be right. At least partially. I don't think it's terrible, although it's not in the same league as his later work.

That's something I would say about Shivers or even The Fly. I mean it when I say the Brood is terrible. Anyhoo, let's go with -

Spider! I will admit a better and more interesting Cronenberg film than The Brood.

Correct! And yeah, I think a good case could be made for The Fallen Idol being at the very least the equal of The Third Man. I'm not sure I'd fall into that group yet, but only because I've seen the latter several times, while I just watched the former for the first time a few days back. What a great performance by Ralph Richardson though. Both films, in my mind, are just about as good as it gets.

This is at least the third time this movie has showed up on this thread, but there it is. It's great and I don't care.

Hint: it got nominated for a shit-ton of Oscars, but somehow not a Best Picture nomination
