The series that changed the way we see television deserves it's own thread.
A real cultural phenomenon that left its mark on the 90's, the ''X Files'' started on September 10th 1993 and for nine years it proceded to revolutionize the TV landscape. It became also the biggest influence for most of the modern hit series (24, Lost, Heroes, Prison Break, etc.).

The show also produced perhaps the most iconic TV duo of modern times in Mulder and Scully.
Their relationship, chemistry and sophisticated banter remain unparalleled, despite many efforts to copy them.

One of my favourite shows as a kid. Spooked the living bejezzus out of me. All went down hill after Duchovney left, though. Just wasn't the same.

...and why couldn't they come up with a decent plot for the latest movie with only how-many years to write one..?

I don't recognize any of those episode titles but I don't think I paid much attention to that stuff when I was watching anyway.

My favourite episode is still the sideshow one, with the twin that can pull itself out of its brother and kills everyone it tries to bond with. I liked the humour aspects of that one, particularly the scene between the hotel owner and Mulder where Hotel guy's insulted that Mulder's made assumptions about him and picks on Mulder's style of dress because it makes him look like an FBI agent. "I am an FBI agent." Oh, classic laughs. The conspiracy stuff was all right but I'm glad the show writers trusted their audience enough to play up the funny once in a while. It's not good for a show to take itself too seriously.

This show changed how I look at life when I was in my teens. No, really. Kudos to the guy who started the topic. Wish I was the one who did.

Gillian Anderson makes me drool.

Still my favorite show of all time, although just about ready to be taken over by LOST.

The spookiest episode I remember from when I was a kid is the one where they're investigating some sort of scientific station out in the woods and all the scientists are coughing up their insides. Yuk. Anyone remember what that ep was called?

Sounds vaguely like "Firewalker". Takes place at a science station next to a volcano, and the scientists basically had a fungus growing inside of that burst out of their throats when it gestated.

During it's original run I only watched The X-Files sparingly. I think it may have aired Friday or Saturday night when I was out having fun as a kid. The other night I began watching season one on dvd and I'm loving it thus far.

I had many favorites....but the episode which creeped me out the most was the one with the incestuous family. The mother had no legs or arms and she stayed hidden under the sink, I believe. They chewed her damned foor for her and regurgitated it into her mouth. Wow, I'm gettin the creeps again just thinking about it.

I have never actually watched this series, but I am about 90% sure I will like it, one of my friends has all the seasons on DVD so I am going to dedicate some spare time to finally getting into it!

My advice for you is to watch only up to the end of Season 3 and then maybe the first movie. IMO, the series started going downhill after that bigtime.

Love the X-Files, sure. I've got a lot of favorites, but I really dig the second episode of the first season, the episode with the lake monster and the one where Mulder goes to that observatory or whatever in South America

I liked Robert Patrick, but he wasn't on the same level as David. The show just felt its best days were behind.

Bummer...

I was told there was a hidden track on Songs In the Key X where Carter explains in detail aspects of the secret cabal and the abduction of Mulder's sister. The cd has been oop for awhile so I was stoked to find it in a used bin. I was so excited. Popped it into the player only to find there was no hidden track as I was told. Perhaps it was only on early editions of the disc.
