Yeah, good luck. I hate interviews, so here's to hoping you don't get as nervous as I do. What kind of position is it, if you don't mind me asking?

Speaking of jobs, you remember my job? It just got a bit more permanent and I'm off apartment hunting.

I'm involved with a polyamorous girl at the moment. That's been interesting.

Sweet, hope it went well. Let us know if it bears fruit.

Post Re: My Life
Oh well. I will spare you the details of my struggle. In my heart I am a creative person with emphasis on cinema and music.
In the early 80s, when music changed radically, I knew I wouldn't want to play in a rock band anymore.
To cut it short: I loved music so much (and still do) that I didn't mind playing the piano in a resident casino band. I worked my way up to being the keyboarder of a famous entertainer doing many, many gigs living "on the road". In 1990 was invited to be an in-house music producer and composer for CD's and tv commercials in a successful studio. I worked my ass off during about 14 years - facing many obstacles. I think I came up with some pretty decent stuff. All while my relationship with a girl I truly loved (is that too detailed for this forum?) failed and I was located in a small sub-rented room with poor conditions, while my then gf lived 200 miles away in our home having a good time.
I'm all over it now and I think I did so far some pretty decent stuff as a composer/producer/orchestrator/MIDI programmer.

I hope you don't mind me posting some of my work on YouTube. This is 100% NO self-promotion. Just want you to have some fun.

The director's cut of a diet orange flavor soda commercial from 2007 (spot the many homages to movies including a "sound alike" of a song from Mary Poppins):

Sparkling water ("Peter Pan" inspired) - 2008:

Be careful! Sound is loud! (English version, 2010) - there is also a "making of" mini feature on YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSAwx7WyqEs

Your typical yoghurt commercial: a stick thin model selling yoghurt as a way of becoming slim and trim....
Anyway - I was happy being able to do some neo-retro-1980s music with the help of the same professional studio session singer who also did the Mary Poppins "soundalike".

PLMK what you think. Any kind of criticism welcome. Also: PLMK if the link(s) don't work. I can send the video separately.
Again: I am NOT selling anything. I still conceal my true identity. Just wanted you guys to know what my day job is. :)

I listened to all of them Threeperf, but I have a completely untrained ear so I feel unqualified to offer any criticism. All in all, I thought you did a very professional job each time. They sound like commercials do, but don't necessarily sound like commercials do. Does that make sense? Probably not...

Thanks for the well wishes. The job is for a Broadcast Traffic Coordinator for PBS. It's more business-related, but I figured I'd get my foot in the door in a media-related organization, with the possibility of pursuing some graduate studies.

As for the interview, well, it went ok, I guess. It was my first interview in over four years, so I was a little rusty, and there were some questions I didn't handle as well as I know I could. It was also a Skype interview, which was an odd experience; I would've preferred something more face-to-face. So I'm not as optimistic as I should be, but I've had interviews before that I thought I nailed and I didn't get the job, while I got my previous job from an interview where I didn't think I did my best, so who knows. My cousin said she dreamed I got the job, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

No worries, though. If it doesn't work out, something will come along soon.

Thanks. Glad you like it. Please do not forget that what you hear is what the "suits" and budget let me do, not what I would be able to do. But it's O.K.
Sure it makes all sense what you say. 1) If memory serves you are located in the US, so your ears are more tuned to US commercials. Some of the music is decidedly European or has been turned into more European (the music for the Nymph (sparkling water) was much more cinematic before - I had to add brass instruments - of course fake, since real brass would have been way too expensive - to add "power" - which ruins it a little... ) 2) These are commercials where the music is heavily featured, which is the exception. Often there is voice over and/or dialog all the way through turning the music into background noise of no importance to speak of (that's why many clients use cheap library music, no laws against it and no pressure from the musician's union, and me and my competitors are slowly getting out of business...). 3) I have my own "handwriting" - what I really wanted to do in life is writing music for movies - but here in Europe production is too few, and the US are flooded with great talent - only a fraction actually land a decent gig - no chance for an old European bloke like me (not that I didn't try very hard - that's how I know the exact situation in the first place). Well anyway, perhaps you still can hear some of that "original goal" in my work for the commercials. Even though they are all made on computer plus live vocals.

My girlfriend and I are having a baby! Not until February, so it's a long time to wait, but we're very excited!

Congratulations. Savor the long wait, because afterward you'll be busy, busy, busy.

In recent months I have:

- Broken up with MimixRose for a woman I eventually broke up with. It's been a brutal past few months for the female gender.

- Made twenty new songs. All of which are actually good as songs, but are nevertheless depressing and moody. Medication might be taken if I end up writing a song called 'Oh My Desolate Sweet Sorrow' and realize that I'm kind of into that title. Actually, that is a pretty cool title. Why are my hands shaking?

- Gained some weight, then lost it, WITH A VENGEANCE. Fuck you, fat.

- Made an entire picture set of me being a gangster, suit and gun both well in check. I look like Harvey Keitel and Eric Roth's bastard lovechild. Oh but what a fabulous child they doth spawned.

- Got my Pimpbot level upgraded to 'High Velocity 3.0 - Strangles Women... But They Like It'

- Had at least eight different women ask to have sex with him over the past two weeks. Now, if half of them weren't illegal, this would be followed by me smiling. As is, this cell is actually pretty comfy.

- Writing a new screenplay about an inveterate liar (and salesman, to boot) who ends putting his darling wife and kids, and family in general, in horrible danger as his lies spin out of control and his actions begin to attract both the Russian mafia's prettiest associate and a detective who the man knew in the past, who holds more than a few grudges over that darling wife, and may just wish him ill in the worst possible manner. It's basically a thriller dependent on the rhythms of lies, half-truths, and deep, black obsession - and it has quite an ending. And yes, you can sing along to it.

- Arnold Palmer has been ruling my life lately. Greatest drink ever. In other news, the Tiger Woods drink totally sucks. *Insert Tiger Woods infidelity joke here*... and yes, she will make love to wine. She will love the wine, too. Suck it, post coherence!

I totally cannot tell whether to take you literally or not. Is "Pimpbot" some new online thing that I've missed out on? Or, are you referring to yourself in a strange form of third-person? Whatever the case, congratulations.
