Re: Least Deserving/Most Deserving Oscar Winners - Actors
I think that TH gets a lot of flack for Forest Gump. The scene where he realises forest Jnr is his son and asks if he is smart is the reason he should have gotten the oscar. in that one scene you saw Forest Gump's fears and hopes through a small piece of dialog and some extremely subtle acting.
this was a wonderfull performance. She literally became katherine Hepburn. if you look at the Aviator you can see what happens when a screen icon is not realised sp weel, ie Kate Beckinsdale / Eva gardner
Titanic was a far superior film to anything else produced that year, both from a technical standpoint as well as a story content.
this was the role which defines his career both in terms of the voice over work he has done and the roles he has been offered. Million Dollar Baby was just a boxing version of "Red". It is the best performance he has ever made. One could also argus it is the best realised charactor from any film. this is especially apt seeing that the origional "Red" charactor was a red headed Irish Man. Nothinig at all like Freeman.
Shawshank redemption should have also won an oscar from Tim Robbins, best adapted screen play and possibly best film.
I would consider ignoring of Shawshank Redemption by the Academy to be the their greatest travesty
