I haven't watched it yet. It is on early in the morning here, so I taped it. This also lets me fast-forward over commercials and boring bits.

What other dead people were forgotten? Bea Arthur? Farrah Fawcett-Majors?

When Tom Hanks walked on screen, even though he's great, I settled in to half-ignore the TV for a couple minutes while they worked through some sort of long-winded recap of the nominees like they did for the actors. I didn't even realize he had announced the winner till people were on stage jumping. Love Tom Hanks for that. In a night that felt RIDICULOUSLY long winded, he got up there and got it done. Helped wash away a bit of the stink from those horrible best actor/actress introductions.
